Taken by Edward Bloor

Charity wakes up groggy, tired, and confused.  The last memory she had was being taken to a hospital.  Her face still felt flush with a fever, and she was weak and tired.  Charity soon realized she is not at a hospital, and these men were not doctors.

Charity’s greatest fear has become a reality – she’s been kidnapped.

In 2036, the children of the wealthy are frequent targets for kidnappers.  Even with the top notch security in her Highlands community, the constant supervision surrounding her and monitoring her every movement, the guards and security systems meant to protect her, Charity has still become a target.  She’s just a means to an end - a ticket being used by kidnappers to cash in ransom money.

Charity hopes and prays her father can be reached, and he is willing to follow the kidnapper’s demands and instructions. If her father acts quickly, Charity will not be harmed.  Despite how hard her father tries to save her, the plan fails.

When one of the kidnapper’s identity is revealed, Charity feels shocked and betrayed.  She knows there are no guarantees, and she must now be willing to act in order to save herself– be prepared to fight and to flee.  What Charity does not realize is that being kidnapped will actually save her in the end.

Losing the life she has now and leaving others behind is the only way she will ever experience true freedom and happiness.

Exciting, and totally unexpected – right up until the satisfying conclusion.

  1. I read Taken the first week we were out of school....NOT what I expected at all, but in a good way. I loved being able to see how Charity lived her life in "The Highlands", a very wealthy community in Florida. They also used "vidscreens" (which may or may not be a reality in 2036!).
The book has great twists and turns with a couple of unexpected events. It has a great ending as well. I really enjoyed reading it and highly recommend it!

  2. Taken is a exciting book beacuse you dont know whats going to happen next. Charity, the main character finds her self in an ambulance. She tries to remmember what happened and how she got there. she has flashbacks of her life before she was kidnapped as she tries to figure out how to work with the kidnappers. she talks to a dark colored boy to figure out more about him to see if he might be good. There are some hard times were she tries to forget her old friend Albert died cruelly. To find out what the kidnappers are after read the book. You will like it as much as i do.

  3. Taken is such an amazing book. Charity gets taken away by kidnappers. And she wakes up on an ambulance. Shes trapped in a room, strapped on a stretcher. A man who looks like hes 16 comes and watches her on a video camera. she tries to stay calm and not escape beacuse she was teached how to act if she gets kidnapped. She knows how the kidnappers plan there way to get their money but this way is diffrent. She tries to remember how it was before she got kidnapped and how it would be the same as scared as she is there are even more scarier things are coming ahead. when the kidnappers want something else other than money.

She was kidnapped on new years day. She dose'nt remember anything but that she was taken to the hospital. She was strapped on a strecher. a boy that look like he is about 17 waches her on camera. this book was confusing at first to me then i had to go back and start over . It is not what i thought it was going to be like. I give it 5 stars :) *****

  25. Great book. But it does have a tendancy to skip from her inner thoughts to whats actually happening, but thats what makes it more interesting and thats what makes the book longer.
