Middle School Is Worse Than Meatloaf by Jennifer Holm

Ginny describes her seventh grade year - her first boyfriend, her best friend's betrayal, her brother's arrest, and her mom's remarriage, all through her "stuff."  What kind of stuff?  Guidance counselor reports, notes she's written, report cards, etc.  This book is a bit like reality TV.  It's almost a guilty pleasure because you feel as if you are peeking or watching a person's life unfold.  I loved this book b/c it was a quick read, kept my interest, and gave a realistic view of what it's like to be a 7th grade girl whose life is not perfect! 1. This was a great book! It really is fast to read, I bolted through the book. This book is about a girl named Ginny. She lives with her mom and her little brother, Timmy. Her dad passed away. As I was reading through this book I noticed she had a " to do "list of the things that she wanted to do or accomplish. She really wants Bob, her moms boyfriend to ask her mom to marry him. Ginny also has another brother named Henry. He is a naughty boy.Ginny is in middle school. As she goes through middle school in the 7th grade she sometimes finds it hard. She really wants to be friends with Mary Catherine Kelly. She is in ballet and she makes really good grades. Soon Bob asks Ginny's mom to marry him. She also sometimes visits her grandfather. This is a great book, you should read it.

  4. The book Middles School Is Worse Than Meatloaf by Jennifer L. Holms was such a great and easy book to read. This book talks about a seventh grader named Ginny Davis short for Genevieve Davis who explains her seventh grade year through notes and e-mails with her friend Becky Soo and her mom most of the time. Although Ginny does not get perfect grades she is highly inteligent and very funny, she shows her humor by the way she acts and or by the letters and e-mails she composes. Throughout the book she has a "to do list" of thing she hopes to accomplish during the year but, as the year goes by she starts to take out some of her to do things as she realizes that they may be hard for her to accomplish. Ginny has a difficult life because her dad died as she was at an early age, her older brother Henry was arrested, and as if it wasn't hard enough her mom has a new boy friend whom she hopes to marry. Ginny survives the year and it turns out that she wins first place for a science fair project that is a model of a human brain. I would highly recommened Middle School Is worse Than Meatloaf by Jennifer L. Holms to anyone who is interested in a funny story by notes and e-mails once in a while and to any one who can relate to Ginny's experince during her seventh grade year.

  5. I loved the book Middle school is worst than Meatloaf because first it wasn't to long and it described Ginny's seventh grade year in e-mails and notes usually from Ginny to her friend Becky Soo and her mother. This book was very funny especially when her mother would tell Ginny to clean her room and she would say all sorts of things in a note like will it stop world hungr, will it make the forest stop disapering, or waill it cure cancer
I thougth that was very funny because she wouldn't clean her room only if it will help solve those problems. Ginny's brother gets arrested, her dad is dead, and her mom wants to marry her new boyfriend. Ginny has a hard year but she survives it. This book was GREAT I highly recommend it to everyone because it helps then understand a seventh grade year.

  12. I loved the book "Middle School is Worse than Meatloaf." Jennifer Holm keeps you entertained by her unique writing skills. Instead of paragraphs, she uses objects. You must infer what is going on. An example is in the beginning of the book, there is only one pizza magnet. But as the story progresses, there become more pizza magnets on the rifrgderator. This shows that they eat pizza a lot. Jenny's life is crazy and mixed up. Jennifer Holm will deffinatly make you laugh. I recommend this book to all ages. Everyone will love it :)

  14. This was a very interesting book to read and enjoyable because of the objects used to explain it. Jennifer Holm is very creative using report cards, chat rooms, the fridgerator, notes, letters, and many other things telling what Ginny is doing. Ginny is going through middle school with tons of things on her mind. I loved the comics featuring Henry. Easy to read and recommendable for everyone.

  16. In this book it is talking about how Middle School is worse than meatloaf. This is about a girl named Ginny who is in the 7th grade right now and she is going through a lot with her friends and her dad has pasted away when she was a little girl. she stays with her mom. She also has to brothers. She talks to her friends by letters. This is a good book to read. School can in fact be worse than meatloaf cause you have people in your school who like to keep things going and all that so this was a good book for me.
