  7. My fiction book is called 'Blood is Thicker' by Paul Langan. I chose this book because it is a mystery book. The main character is Hakeem Randall, he is a shy boy, and whenever he's nervous, he stutters. But he also likes to sing and play his guitar. My story is about, Hakeem breacks up with his girlfriend, Darcy Willis, and leaves her and their friends. He leaves them because he has to move to Detroit because his family cannot pay there house bills and his dad is very weak.So they are going to live with their relatives. One person Hakeem was going to see was his cousin Savon, he hasn't seen he cousin since they were smaller. Once Hakeem and his family got their, their family greeted them. Two things Hakeem noticed about Savon was that he looked totally different, and he had a totally new attitude. Since Hakeem had to share a room with Savon, very late during the night, every night, Savon snuck off somewhere with a crowd. Hakeem didn't know where to, but maybe he can find out.

  8. For my fiction book, I read "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky. It's about a boy named Charlie who writes anonymous letters to someone from his school, talking about his life throughout his first year of high school. He's the loner in high school, because everyone makes him out to be a psychopathic freak, often mentioning the fact he has to go to a therapist and has regular doctor visits due to anger issues and being unable to control any emotions he feels. He meets and falls in love with this girl named Sam, who, even though she has a boyfriend, loves him the same way he loves her. Because Sam has a boyfriend, Charlie meets and dates this girl named Mary Elizabeth, who talks on and on about women's rights and records and such, and soon Charlie falls out of love with her. Sam leaves high school to go to college, while Charlie becomes a senior. Charlie is emotionally stressed throughout the entire book, for reasons caused by family, friends, life decisions and things he's done in the past, such as taking LSD at a party and later laying in the snow overnight, getting into two brutal fist fights, getting high at a party and catching two boys from high school in a closet together, and returning a book to the store and a record given to him by Mary Elizabeth at the time they were dating.

  9. My book is a nonfiction book called 'Global Warning' by Sandy Ransford. This book is about what is happening right now to our population, forests, Earth's atmosphere, and animals on land and sea. There is a population explosion because, in the late 1980's there were over five billion people, and today it is growing at a rate of 78,624,000 people a year. It has been estimated that if this keeps going in 100 years time, the population will be double what it is today. The problem is that ALOT of these people need food, water, shelter, clothing, fuel, and a means of making a living. Continuing on, our forests are being destroyed because of acid rain. Also, trees are being cut down for timber, to clear land for agriculture, for buildings, and for fuel. If we continye to destroy our tropical rain forests, by 2030, there will be none left. The problem with Earth's atmosphere is that, each spring for the last ten years, ozon e over Europe and North America has diminished by 8%. Ozone protects us from harmfyl ultra-violet rays from the sun. This problem can cause eye and skin disease, and damage to the growth of plants. Last but certintaly not least is the animals.Clearing land for farming and buildings wipe out many species by destroying their habitats. Also, hunting can be dangerous too. For example, the blue whale has been hunted to the point of extinction, a catch of fish can result in possible extinction. Also big cats are hunted for their skins, and elephants and rhinoceroses are hunted for their tusks and horns. Some of these things are illegal. All those statment I just typed are examples of Global Warning. Some things we can do to help are: 1, Save Energy, 2, Recycle Wherever Possible, 3, Avoid Packaging, 4, Don't But Products Containing CFC's, 5, Don't Buy Products Made From Endangered Species, and 6, Be Kind And Considerate Towards Animals.

  10. For my non fiction book, I read Hannibal - Rome's Worst Nightmare by Philip Brookes. It's about a great Carthaginian army commander who fights to defeat Rome after his father was beheaded. In the First Punic War, Rome defeated Carthage. When Hannibal's father, Hamilcar, tries to conquer Iberia for Carthage, Hannibal accompanies him, and later witnesses his father's death, causing Hasdrubal, Hannibal's brother, becomes the commander of Carthage's army. Hasdrubal is later assassinated during the night by a Celtic assassin, which makes Hannibal the commander. Hannibal decides to attack Saguntum, and Rome then declares war on Carthage, launching the Second Punic War. Hannibal forces the Romans to defeat when he attacks them at Ticinus River, and later defeats them at Trebia. Hannibal ambushes Cannae and then takes control of the city of Tarentum. Rome makes it way to Capua while Hannibal camps outside the walls of Rome, and then attempts to lead the Romans away from Capula by flinging a javelin into the city of Rome. When Hannibal's younger brother, Hasdrubal Barca, attempts to bring soldiers to Hannibal, he is assassinated and beheaded. Scipio sets out to conquer Iberia, and then lands in Africa, defeating the Carthaginian army in two battles. Hannibal then returns to Carthage and is defeated by Scipio at the Battle of Zama. Hannibal then accepts Rome's harsh terms, ending the Second Punic War. Under the threat of all of his enemies in Carthage, Hannibal flees to multiple cities. When Roman's discover where he fled to, they attempt to close in on him. Hannibal realizes this, and in an attempt from letting the Roman's defeat him once and for all, he drinks a bowl of poison to kill himself.
