3.5 Stars - Fast-paced story that keeps you hooked

Most teens are used to living life in the fast lane.  Living life on the run, however, is completely different.

When Alex's father is brutally murdered right before his eyes, Alex is asked to testify against the man that took his father's life away - the same vicious man who had also shot and left Alex for dead.

Although the man is jailed for his crime, he has powerful connections outside the prison walls.  Alex and his mother are forced to abandon the world they have always known.  They assume new identities, move to another state, and learn to become untraceable under the Witness Protection program.

Despite their fear, Alex and his mother are able to move on with their lives.  They must learn to change themselves frequently - their looks, personality, speech, and even their home.  Alex knows he can never really become close friends with anyone - he could slip and reveal his identity, or  even worse, endanger the lives of his friends.

When they move again, this time to Virginia Beach, Alex assumes the identity of a skater.  To his surprise, he begins to really get used to this new life.  He even makes real friends - ones he feels he can actually trust.  Maybe, just maybe, he can stop being fake.  Alex would finally have a life he called his own.

That is, until the killer arrived.

But as you learn that Alex's real name is Danny you find out more and more about his killer. GREAT BOOK. If you want a book that can grab you like a thick book than this in the book for you. If i was to rate this book of course I would give it a 5 star rating!!!!

  3. I loved the book fakie.I loved how it shift from whats happening with the killers to whats happenig with alex or danny.I enjoyed how danny went from not trusting anyone to trusting his friends to keep him and his mom safe.My favorite charater was danny becouse he always changes and is so cold and feelingless at first but turns into not caring and showing his feelings.

  4. In the beginning Alex and his mother were on their way to thier new home in Virginia. Alex was used to being a new student , but never got over the shyness of the first day. After his first week or so he was fitting in with his new skater friends. Alex frequently has minor flashbacks of the shoting of his dad.,but then he recalled the intire incident. Alex becomes to settled with his new friwnds and does not want to relocate. His stubbornness catches up to him when Steve,"hiss dads killer"hires assassins to kill him and his mother. The assassins eventually find Alex and his mother in Virginia and are focused on killing them. Then it is left up to Alex and his loyal friendsto out smart the assassins. In the end, with the help of his friends, the assassing went into hiding. That worked until another assassin cought up with them and did the job right. Alexs and his mom then take back thier origional identities and live a normal life,"try to that is".

  7. This is a great book! The plots filled with mystery and suspence at every corner. I find the killing chase amazing because you gte to see how the bad charcters finally act fase to fase and how there plan fails. My favorite part in the book is when Danny becomes real with himself and his friends. Also I love when Dannys plan comes to life to save the people he loves by using his very smart friends.

Now the killer has found hislocation and is trying to kill him, but thanks to his new friends they stop him and he can now live normal life. I would definitly recommend this book for others to read.

  11. Fakie had a great, yet guessable plot. I could guess the end, yet it is still suspensful. I somewhat love the part where Brian and Frank become friends. It shows that any enemies can become friends with a peaceful relationship.

Another comment I have is that it ends with a great cliffhanger. It leaves us many questions.

I enjoyed this book. Only complaint is the guessable plot.

  14. I loved this book! I loved all the characters, and it had a good plot, too. A little too guessable for my likings, but the other action and just the whole love of the theme and characters makes it forgivable. The ending was very predictable, which i hate, but it still left me wanting to get more! I recommend this to all my friends. GREAT book!
