  1. I read this book and it was very good! This book describes how the NKVD treated the Lithuanians and how they suffered through starvation and medical care. It also shows how millions of people died from Stalin's army. I would recommend this to anyone!

  2. Between Shades of Gray is about a girl named Lina who was taken from her home and were taken care of by the NKVD. Lina and her family suffers from starvation, diseases, and seperation. On their way, transitioning from camp to camp, they meet people along the way. Lina meets a boy named Andrius who she comes to have a close relationship to. This book shows how Stalin treated the Lithuanians with disrespect.

  3. This book is own of my favorite on how she goes through alot of things and she usses her talent to keep her happy. Then the NKVD makes it worse for her to be happy when all the do is talk nasty to her, don't give them enought of food, and spit in their face when every they want to.What really kept me into the book is when things happen and you wamt to find out and she does to.I think everybody shold read this book because it is sad, romatic, crazy and just plain out good. This book is how Stalin just plain out treated the Lithuanians and what some of them did back to them. Most of them were taken away from their familys and just died from the weather, sickness, and on the trainfor about three month with little food and water.

  4. I liked this book so much! It takes place when Stalin and Hitler are competing for territory. Lina, a girl from Lithuania, is deported from her home. Lina and her family, a little brother named Jonas and here mother, are taken by the NKVD and put in to train cars. They stay there for many months, riding to a secret location. They are deported to a beet farm. They have to harvest beets for a living. Lina falls in love and stays in the camp for 4 years and is 16 when she comes out. They go through many hard times. I would suggest reading the book.

  7. This amazing, emotionally compelling, heart gripping story is about a girl by the name of Lina and her family. Lina is a 15 year old who is one of the most talented artist in urasia. They are taken by the soviets out of lithuania and loaded on trains and treated like animals. They stop at a place where they are sold and sent to shacks in altia to work on farms. I love this book and the flashbacks that they present which helps lina in the future. i recomomend this book to anyone who reads war books or romances.

  8. Couldn't put this book down!!!!

Lina, her little brother Jonas, and her mother Elaina-are taken out if their homes in the middle of the night, put on a bus, almost killed, and then put on a train-by soldiers. They are always worried about their dad because I they don't actually know where he is or if he's ok. But Lina finds him and does her best to pass secret notes along the train cars-to him. Once Lina and her mother and brother are put on a prison farm, they are given a home to share with a grumpy woman, and they have to work to eat. Many harsh winters pass and her family gets sick-close to death.
The book is about how Lina survives and takes care of the ones she has fought to keep alive, and falls in love with a boy she meets.
The story has a lot of interesting twists...
